Former New York City Renter Finds Road To Homeownership At The M At Englewood South

A welcomed happenstance driving back to New York City paved the road to homeownership for Allison Baretz.

Ms. Baretz had been renting an apartment on 22nd Street in Gramercy, but knew she wanted to move out of Manhattan and begin enjoying the many advantages of ownership.  The first-time homebuyer set her sights on New Jersey’s Hudson River “Gold Coast,” at first looking at condominiums in Edgewater and West New York.

“Location was a primary factor and I liked the fact I could quickly access the City from homes along the waterfront,” recalls Ms. Baretz.  “However, all the condos were extremely old and very high priced.  They would all need to be gutted and completely renovated before I moved in.”

Ms. Baretz continued her search and began expanding northward into Bergen County which provides an extremely fast commute into New York City via the George Washington Bridge.  Her search would end just miles from Manhattan off Route 4 in Englewood when she luckily drove by and spotted The M at Englewood South, a collection of upscale one-and two-bedroom condominiums.

“Right off the bat I was drawn to the fact that The M was brand new and clean,” Ms. Baretz.  “Its location was exactly what I was looking for in terms of a quick commute into New York City.  And the affordable prices were well within my budget and made me comfortable knowing I was receiving value with the purchase.”

The homes themselves had dramatic appeal to Ms. Baretz who was looking to upgrade from the limited space of a Manhattan apartment.

“The size of the one-bedroom was very large,” she says.  “I also noticed that every condominium had an additional half-bath, something I didn’t see in any other one-bedroom condos I visited.  The fact that finishes such as granite countertops and maple cabinetry were included in the purchase price and not extra upgrades ensured I was getting the most home for my money.”

The draw of The M at Englewood South extended even further for Ms. Baretz.

“While I was looking for an amenitized building, it was not a deal breaker,” she points out.  “The M’s amenities, including a pool, resident’s clubroom with catering kitchen and parking garage, was over and above.”

Homes at The M at Englewood South range from 755 to 1,500 square feet of living space and feature open living space, sumptuous bedrooms, state-of-the-art kitchens with maple cabinetry, under-counter lighting and granite countertops; large laundry areas with side-by-side General Electric washers and dryers, large walk-in closets and most with powder rooms.  Lavish master bathrooms boast granite countertops and double-sink vanities.  There’s also oak hardwood flooring throughout the living area and ceramic tile flooring in the entry hall and kitchen. Condominiums are situated in four distinctive buildings surrounded by three courtyards and most boast garden views and views of the adjacent Overpeck Golf Course.

Located at 104 Riverview Avenue, The M offers residents a best-of-both-worlds setting that blends key suburban conveniences with sought after urban appeal.  Englewood’s dynamic downtown features an eclectic offering of upscale shops and boutiques and more than forty fine restaurants and eateries.  Major brand name shopping can be found at the nearby Riverside Square Mall and Garden State Plaza, while the Bergen Performance Arts Center in Englewood features nearly 150 world class performances yearly, ranging from Rock and Classical music to Comedy and Dance performances.

“The M is a complete lifestyle package,” notes Jacqueline Urgo, President of The Marketing Directors, the Manhattan-based sales and marketing firm which is the exclusive sales and marketing agent for The M.  “In addition to the location, homes and onsite recreational and social amenities, residents receive a one year membership at The Gym, a 40,000 SF state-of-the-art fitness center located nearby at 20 Nordhoff Place.”

The community is also a commuter’s dream.  The M is minutes from Route 4 with access to the George Washington Bridge and just 12 miles to Manhattan.  A parking space is included in the purchase price in The M’s enclosed parking garage. For those wishing to use public transportation, shuttle service is provided from the community to the nearby NJ Transit bus stop which offers convenient service into New York City.
